Lest we forget...

Lighting! Something most of us (including myself) take for granted. Yet we forget how a beautiful fixture can completely renovate and brighten (pun intended) a room. My current obsession? Chandeliers. In any room (especially the bathroom, picture below).

I think I'm turning Japanese

We just got two tables from the local San Francisco vendor Table Asia (click for the website!) and I'm a bit obsessed. The craftsmanship that is put into each piece is astounding; it's quite apparent even looking at them how much time and detail was put forth. Their store offers a multitude of pieces, such as conference tables, side tables, sculptures, art (in the form of stencils called 'Katagami', I'll take two please), and so much more. I'll let Table Asia do the rest of the talking, but needless to say I'm impressed.

"The intrinsic beauty of these unique Japanese wood creations is the inspiration for Table Asia Gallery and our Japanese furniture. Each of these authentic antique or vintage panels was constructed without the use of glue or nails. We never deal in reproductions." -Table Asia

"The workmanship found in these rare and unique panels is a reflection of the thoughts and passions of Japanese culture that stirred the spirit of artisans." -TA

The Transom Panels in the Kyoto Conference Table (above) were used above doorways in all traditional Japanese architecture.

These tables are a delicious addition to any home; come by the store to check out our tables in the flesh.

On The Rocks

Coquine, a new bar in London, is the essence of classic elegance through atmosphere and ambiance. And if you're anything like myself (a snob for interiors at any establishment I plan on spending more than 4 hours in drinking and dining with friends) you can appreciate Lee Broom's aesthetic eye for antique details and fine cuts. The same attention you would give any room in your house (and is actually inspiring me to turn a room into a cigar/scotch lounge) Broom gives to Coquine.

Best for last? The Decanterlights that are "one of a kind, each made from lead crystal decanters that have been hand sourced from antique markets and vintage shops by Broom and his team." -The Cool Hunter
I'll take two!

eat your heart out

doesn't this make you want to collect books just to stack on your beautiful mirrored table with glass candy jars??

The mirror is such a lovely touch as well! If there's anything I love it's mirrors, and chandeliers, and gold. Recreating this as my study space in my home is on my to-do list (and has been moved to the top).

LoveLetter Charm Necklaces from Trunk Show Artist Claudia MacFarland

Call me narcissistic, but I love personalized jewelry that is made or designed or curated and picked out especially for me. There is something so special about knowing I am the only one who has this, that it was chosen with love just for me.

Charm necklaces are just that, absolutely charming and any girl/mom/sister would feel so special to receive one of these very special, delicate love letters!

Trunk Show this Saturday!

I think it goes without saying, but just in case it doesn't, the trunk show is this Saturday! I can't wait! Who needs groceries this week? Come view the work of six local Bay Area artists specializing in Jewelry, Chocolates and more! Plus, everything in the store will be 15% off...

The necklace above is from Erin Hakansson, one of the artists featured. Her jewelry is really organically beautiful, gorgeous natural minerals and stones. This one is my favorite because I have never seen anything like it! It's both natural and constructed, delicate and a little coarse. As a girl filled with contradictions it's just so me!

Here's a list of all the artists, but I'll be featuring some favorites from each one this week just to get everyone as excited as I am about the trunk show! See you there....

Mother's Day

While May is easily my favorite month of the year (flowers, sunshine, iced lattes) Mother's Day seems to move in all too quickly, and if you're anything like myself I'm scrambling to find her the gift she's been hinting at for months but (of course) I can't seem to remember.

Take a deep breath my fellow procrastinators, let Bae take care of your (and you Mom!)

Bath Soaps by Millefiori ($9.50); the refreshing smell is light and floral, perfect addition to the bath or kitchen.

Pear candles by Vance Kitira ($8/ea). So cute as a group or

by itself! Robert Abbey ceramic flower ($75) is my next purchase. So beautiful!

These Roost Hourglasses (small: $24.95, large: $48) compliment a bedside or coffee table; perfect accoutrement for the everyday.

She's been needing a new lamp for the living room hasn't she? Surprise her with this beautiful Robbert Abbey Lamp (which is currently on sale from $245 to $183.79!).

Still can't decide? These lovely Roost Fern Votives ($17/ea), Ceramic Pears ($15.95/ea) and Fish Bottle Opener (right there on the top, $24) are sweet ways to show you're thinking of her.

These Fred 24 Carat mugs ($21) are the best way to have your morning coffee!

And lest I forget our selection of San Francisco based Elizabeth W beauty products! They range from bath salts ($22) to lotions ($22) bath gels ($20) diffusers (pictured above, $74) and more in Vetiver, Lavender, Sweet Tea, Rose, and Magnolia. The Miller et Bertaux Perfumes (pictured above the diffusers in the first picture) smell fresh, not overbearing, and absolutely divine. ($108 for 100ml/3.33 fl oz).

So before you fret and write her an 'IOU' card, come in and visit!! She'll be pleasantly surprised, and you'll be relieved :)

Vanity, oh vanity!

Casa sugar asked me, "Do you have a vanity?". Then she talked about exactly how I felt as a child, wishing for a beautiful place to keep my beautiful jars and potions and jewelry.

Well I wish I did! I love this mirrored desk/vanity. It evokes a decadence and luxury in it's clean lines that makes me wish I had a pristine blue room to put it in, next to my silk draped chaise. It is romantic and old hollywood and also modern in it's metal and glass.

This San Francisco ex-pat designer, featured in Elle Decor, placed his desk in front of dramatic black and white wall it is strikingly modern and whimsical. There are so many options for this gorgeous unique item, it would make any room look special.
